Scott Vaughan and David Benz managed a small woodshop in 1986 when they founded Vaughan Benz. They specialized in high-end residential furniture and cabinetry for successful individuals in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills. That same year, they purchased an industrial park in Los Angeles for their operations, making an excellent business decision. The burgeoning Southern California real estate market gave them substantial equity, creating a solid foundation that allowed the company to weather its ups and downs of the economy in the late eighties and nineties.

In 1993, Scott and David made another critical business decision. They began specializing in custom-made furniture for four and five-star hotels, working closely with the interior designers and purchasing agents who procure such projects worldwide. Today, these clients remain loyal customers of Vaughan Benz.

Vaughan Benz began partnering in 2001 with some of the best factories in mainland China that manufactured high-end hotel guestroom furniture to meet their clients' needs. Vaughan Benz set up its own management office in China with trained quality control staff and furniture engineers to ensure 5-star quality to the high Vaughan Benz standards. In 2008, Vaughan Benz expanded operations into Vietnam and later Indonesia, where furniture can export to the United States duty-free. These business decisions enabled Vaughan Benz to produce hotel orders of any size and with reasonable lead time.

In 2003, Scott and David moved their Los Angeles factory to a state-of-the-art facility in downtown Los Angeles where it operated through November 2020.

Vaughan Benz was acquired in late 2020 by an outstanding competitor, Mandy Li Collection, also based in the Los Angeles area. The acquisition of Vaughan Benz provided Mandy Li Collection the resources of their worldwide partnerships, key personnel, and expertise. Together, they are more robust in their project management, manufacturing capabilities, and overall hospitality industry presence.
